Migration Workflow
Antares organizes Tableau migration work into stages: prepare source access, analyze Tableau content, review findings, decide what to do next, and convert selected workbooks when they are ready.
Workflow at a glance
Section titled “Workflow at a glance”| Stage | Goal | Where to go |
|---|---|---|
| Prepare source access | Decide whether to upload one workbook or connect a Tableau environment. | Getting Started |
| Create an analysis | Start an Analyzer job from a workbook upload or Tableau connection. | Analyzer |
| Review findings | Understand inventory, usage, complexity, and readiness. | Analyzer reports |
| Decide next action | Choose what to migrate, redesign, archive, investigate, or convert. | Analysis results |
| Convert selected workbooks | Generate target-platform output for selected Tableau workbooks. | Converter |
| Export or deploy | Download output or deploy through a supported target connection. | Converter / Connections |
1. Prepare source access
Section titled “1. Prepare source access”Antares currently analyzes Tableau content.
You can start from:
| Source | Use when |
|---|---|
| Workbook upload | You want to analyze one .twb or .twbx file. |
| Tableau connection | You want environment inventory, ownership context, usage signals, and many-workbook analysis. |
2. Create an analysis
Section titled “2. Create an analysis”In New Analysis, choose an analysis name, target BI tool, and analysis source.
The target BI tool shapes the migration assessment. Available targets depend on enabled product features.
For detailed steps, see Create an Analysis.
3. Review findings
Section titled “3. Review findings”When analysis completes, open the analysis detail page.
Use Report to review migration findings. Use Logs & Info to inspect job progress, warnings, and processing details.
The report helps you understand:
- Tableau environment inventory.
- Workbook and project context.
- Usage signals when available.
- Workbook complexity.
- Migration readiness.
- Workbook-level details.
4. Decide next action
Section titled “4. Decide next action”Analysis results help decide what should happen to each workbook.
| Action | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Migrate | The workbook is a candidate for target-platform migration. |
| Redesign | The workbook needs design or technical decisions before migration. |
| Archive | The workbook may no longer need to move. |
| Investigate | The workbook needs more owner, usage, or technical review. |
| Convert | The workbook is ready for a conversion job. |
5. Convert selected workbooks
Section titled “5. Convert selected workbooks”Use Converter when a workbook is ready for target output.
A conversion job can include the Tableau workbook, screenshots, supporting data files, or a ZIP package.
For detailed steps, see Create a Conversion.
6. Export or deploy
Section titled “6. Export or deploy”When conversion completes, review the output and logs.
Depending on the target workflow, you can download generated artifacts or deploy through a supported connection.
For Power BI deployment to Microsoft Fabric, see Deploy Power BI Output to Fabric.
